New art

Here's a couple of new panels depicting what happens to the artist while he paints. The show and the book are nearly complete. Below are a couple of finished pages. i'll be putting all the pages from the comic on my site at www.peacefulrage.com soon.

Below is the updated page layout for the comic book / show guide. As you can see it has 3 rows so far...the cover is upper left, page 1 next to that and so on. I'm using this to get an idea of where artwork will be placed on the pages as well as to tell me what art is left to be created to complete the story.

New stuff

Here's a few more pieces for the show. the first is simply a closed door. The second depicts the artist horrified by something. (don't want to give away too much of the story yet) The third is the artist at the easel checking out his work. It's in progress and i haven't decided how I'll finish the background yet. At the moment I have about 7 panels going in different stages from pencil sketches to beginning stages of color. I'll be adding some more soon in different stages.

Long Weekend

It's 4th of July weekend. Sunday to be exact and i've been working steadily.

Masterpiece is a story about an artist on the path to painting his masterpiece. The challenge is making an individual piece that fits in the comic book as a panel yet stands on it's own as an artwork. The story begins with the artist setting up his space and preparing to continue work on a painting he has in progress. The three panels above will be included in the first pages to set up the story.

New Cover 2

Here's the latest version of the comic book / show guide cover. The artwork is done in colored pencil on panel and is based on the sketch from an earlier post. The actual artwork is aprox. 20"x24" and will be available at the opening of 'Masterpiece' in September.

Steady work

The show is coming along nicely. It turns out that the printing of the comic book will take longer than I had planned for so I'm going to have to turn it up a little but that's OK. The pressure to complete is sometimes what's needed. I've nearly finished the piece I'm going to use for the cover so I'll be showing that soon.

Along with the actual artworks on the wall and the comic book to go with it I'm going to have some T shirts printed for the opening. The designs are set and I've just received sample T's. I'm working out the final details with the printer and will be ordering them soon. They will most likely be available at my website www.peacefurage.com when they come in hopefully in the next couple of weeks. The images used for the shirts will be incorporated into the show and comic book as well.

I don't want to give away too many details about the story itself, but I will say that it's simple and provides interesting opportunities to present artwork in a unique way. In short it's about an artist and what happens to him on his path to creating his masterpiece.

New cover

In the layout view from the previous page there's a different cover from the first post. This version uses a different title font and incorporates a sketch. I'm using the sketch to create an artwork on panel in colored pencil. When that's finished the cover will be updated again.
